"My Documents" is a virtual folder, it is actually:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourUserNameHere\My Documents

"Desktop" is a virtual folder, it is actually:

C:\Program Files
is where installed application software is.

C:\WINDOWS
is where much of Windows operating system software is.
C:\WINDOWS\system32
and most of that being here.
