CMIT 265 Name:_____________________________ Download the router simulator. It's the "esim.exe" file. Print the "esimBlank diagram" image. Write the IP adddresses of all the routers' interfaces next to the interfaces. Circle each network and write its network address by the circle. This is so you gain familiarity with the networks and the interfaces' addresses. Scan it and upload to LEO assignment. Start esim (i.e. no configuration done). Note that any configuration you do can not be saved; each time you start the esim it starts fresh. Only the five routers A-E can be configured; the switches and workstations do not exist in the simulator. The simulator only works with the specified IP networks. It's a great way to practice configuring routers and learn the basics of internetworking. Use the "Cisco router show commands", "IOS modes" and "IOS routing cmds" links. To gain familiarity with configuring routers, do this: On each router: --change its hostname to its letter name (A, B etc.) --assign IP addresses and subnet masks to all its interfaces and bring them up (i.e. no shutdown). --activate RIP routing and advertise each connected network. --verify in the running-config that the interfaces are assigned, that RIP is running and advertising the connected networks. Use 'show interfaces' and 'show protocols' to see that each interface is "up and up" After all routers have been configured, verify that the routing tables in each router have routes to all networks. Test the internetwork by: from router A ping E's E0 from router E ping A's E0, E1 and S0 Failure to communicate means something is wrong. Find and fix. Text on the simulator is not able to be copied/pasted. Take a screenshot (Alt-PrtScn or similar) of the three pings done on E to A's three interfaces. Paste that into your image processing program of your choice (IrfanView is good. I suppose Paint will work) and crop it down to just the terminal. Upload that to LEO assignment.
